Ceramics Tutor/Technician
Salary: £25,000 to £28,000 FTE dependent on experience paid pro-rata
Schedule: 19.5 hrs, 2 days a week and one evening (fixed days – Monday 7.5hrs & Thursday 7.5hrs with one evening of 4.5 hours Monday.
There may be scope for overtime by facilitating additional workshops after our daytime workshops finish plus occasional weekend work.
Qualifications/Experience:
A degree, professional qualification or other relevant ceramics experience
A thorough and demonstrable knowledge of throwing, hand building, simple mould making, slip casting, glazing, surface decorating, firing processes and workshop management.
Experience of teaching Ceramics to adults of mixed ability in group settings; some experience of working with adults with learning and physical disabilities is preferred.
Evidence of ongoing professional development within your specialist area.
About us:
Workshop 305 CIC offers a range of specialist arts & craft workshops led by experienced practitioners for people with complex neuro-diverse and physical support needs. At evenings and weekends the workshop is open to the community.
Staff work collaboratively with students on commissions and work made for sales as well as personal work that may be shown in exhibitions.
About the role:
As a ceramics Tutor/Technician you will be joining a dedicated but small team of staff, working alongside fellow ceramics tutor/technicians in teaching and managing the workshop area. This role will have a focus of developing a saleable range through your specific knowledge of ceramics processes.
You will be involved in delivering specialist workshop sessions on two days (approximately 8 direct contact workshop teaching hours) plus one evening with shared responsibilities for elements of technical support.
There will be an additional amount paid for key-holder and first-aider responsibilities. Additional training specific to working with vulnerable adults is an inclusive element.
Situated in Zone 3, Wimbledon is among the best-connected town centres in London – with direct train links to Clapham Junction and London Waterloo, as well as an interchange with the London Underground and Tramlink. Wimbledon Park tube station is a 10 minute walk and we are situated on the 156 bus route.
